About This Seminar

Day One

Triage — We will cover the very latest in triage education as outlined in the ETEK (Emergency Triage Education Kit) and will help you to get the most out of the triage resources that are in the ETEK. This interactive workshop will involve using the tools, discussions, case scenarios and activities.

Objectives of this day include:-

To provide a nationally consistent approach to the educational preparations of clinicians for the Triage role, in particular the consistent application of the ATS (Australian Triage Scale)

The educational strategy integrates available evidence into a valid set of training tools for:

- Nurses performing Triage in hospital emergency departments

- Nurses working in rural and remote area health services where triage forms a part of their role.

Day Two

Emergency Skills — Tuition and the practical application of a variety of emergency skills will be covered throughout the day. Small groups will rotate through skills stations.

This day is aimed at giving participants an opportunity learn new skills, consolidate existing skills and improve their knowledge pertaining to emergency interventions & care.

Objectives of this day include:-

To impart the value of a definitive, consistent approach to the emergency patient, from Triage through to subsequent management and care.

To provide an opportunity to gain or practice emergency skills and procedures in a non-clinical, teaching environment.
